## General

**What is Peppar?**  
Peppar is an all-in-one cloud restaurant platform covering POS billing, kitchen display, digital QR menus, table ordering, KOT printing, inventory, reservations, CRM, analytics, and guest messaging. Built for India with GST billing and INR pricing.

**Do guests need to install an app?**  
No. Guests scan a QR code or open the restaurant page in their mobile browser to browse, order, and track status.

**Is Peppar only for dine-in?**  
No. It supports dine-in, takeaway/counter, and delivery workflows.

**Can I manage multiple outlets?**  
Yes. Pro plans support chains with central menu master, outlet switching, and consolidated reporting.

## KOT & printing

**Does Peppar support kitchen printing?**  
Yes. Peppar prints physical KOT slips to any ESC/POS thermal printer (58 mm or 80 mm). Supported connections: network (IP:9100), USB on Windows, and Bluetooth Classic via the Android Merchant App.

**Do I need Peppar-branded printers?**  
No. Any ESC/POS-compatible thermal printer works — Epson, TVS, Everycom, Rugtek, Posiflex, or generic units.

**What is the Print Agent?**  
A small desktop app on your billing PC that polls Peppar for print jobs and sends raw ESC/POS bytes to your LAN or USB printer. Required because browsers cannot print silently to kitchen printers.

**What is the Peppar Merchant App?**  
An Android app for counter tablets. It wraps the staff console and adds native Bluetooth thermal printing and instant print job push via CometD.

**Can I route items to different kitchen printers?**  
Yes. Configure Kitchen Stations (Grill, Bar, etc.) mapped to menu categories and printers.

## Guest features

**What is shared / group ordering?**  
Multiple diners at one table order from their own phones into a single bill. Guests join via a 4-digit PIN at `/join-order`. Available on Pro.

**What is Virtual Captain?**  
An AI assistant on the guest web app that helps with menu questions and narrates order status via chat and optional voice (TTS). Available on Pro.

**Can guests pay online?**  
Yes, on Pro plans, via PayU (UPI/cards) when configured by the restaurant.

## Billing & compliance

**Is billing GST-compliant?**  
Yes. Bills support CGST, SGST, service tax, packing and delivery charges with configurable rates.

**Does Peppar support split bills?**  
Yes, in fast billing checkout.

**Does Peppar work offline?**  
Not currently. An internet connection is required for billing and sync.

## Integrations

**Does Peppar integrate with Swiggy or Zomato?**  
Not yet. Aggregator sync is on the roadmap but not available today.

**What payment gateways are supported?**  
PayU for guest online orders; Razorpay for Peppar SaaS subscriptions.
